According to EN 13629 these are solid boards or pre-assembled elements of hardwood with groove and/or tongue. Hardwood boards are single-layered elements with thicknesses more than 10 mm, widths above 90 mm and lengths above 400 mm. Pre-assembled single-layered hardwood board elements have thicknesses more than 10 mm, widths above 110 mm and lengths above 900 mm. These elements are combined from several strips (smallest individual element) using dovetailing, narrow side and face side gluing. Hardwood boards and pre-assembled solid hardwood board elements have parallel sides, a uniform thickness as well as constant profiles at the narrow and face sides, and can be joined with other similar elements. The type of wood is selected depending on the requirements of use in the structure and must be stated. The most common types of wood (hard- and softwoods) are listed in Appendix A of the standard EN 13629. Sorting is undertaken into the three appearance classes ⚪, △ and ◻. Depending on the manufacturer further free sortings (classes) are also possible, they have to correspond to the principles of Appendix B of the standard EN 13629. The fire behaviour of the parquet is classified according to the classification report of the manufacturer or according to EN 13501-1 (Cfl-s1, Dfl-s1, Efl – according to product details and end-use condition). The CE-certification of wood flooring and parquet has been compulsory according to EN 14342 since 01.03.2010.
